2019 MMIP Artwork

Each year, the Arts Council partners with the Mercer Island Visual Arts League to select local artwork for promotional materials like posters and flyers. For 2019, the Arts Council selected The Hills Fill My Heart with Music by Zeynep Banu Alev.

Look for Zeynep’s vibrant artwork on promotional materials when you’re out and about this spring and summer! And don't forget to stop by the Arts Council and Parks & Recreation booth at each concert to pick up your own MMIP poster.

Join us for fun activities before the show.

This year we’re partnering with local organizations to bring you even more fun for all ages. Arrive early for arts activities, games, and more at 6 pm!

Weekly Activities

Hands-on Artmaking
Meet us at the Mercer Island Center for the Arts sponsor tent for arts activities coordinated by Arts4All, a welcoming group of local artists, educators, and residents creating and promoting arts events, conversations, and opportunities on Mercer Island. Supplies and direction will be provided. Many thanks to MICA and Arts4All for providing these activities each week.

Interested in leading or assisting with an art activity? Sign up here to volunteer your energy and expertise!

Lawn Games
Get active before the show by playing lawn games set up by Parks & Recreation staff.

New Seasons Giveaway
Stop by the Parks & Recreation tent each week and enter to win a Local Washington Wine gift basket provided by New Seasons Market (valued at $100). We'll announce the winners at the end of the concert; you don't need to be present to win but do need to be 21 or older.

Special Activities

Mercer Island Musician Showcase
Mercer Island is filled with musical talent, so we've invited a few artists to perform opening acts throughout the summer. Enjoy a brief acoustic performance by these artists before the headliners take the stage.   Chinese Calligraphy on July 11
We welcome the Mercer Island Chinese Association to the concert with Duende Libre on Thursday, July 11. Learn your Chinese name, and write it in Chinese Calligraphy on a pretty Chinese-style bookmark.

Performances and Creative Drama with YTN on July 18 and August 8
Youth Theatre Northwest brings their summer productions to the park during the series! See a sneak peek of a different show in July and August:   Take an adventure inside a world inspired by The Little Mermaid and The Monkey King with Creative Drama led by a YTN Teaching Artist. Meet unusual characters, solve tricky problems, and visit magical places – all we need is imagination! Best for ages 3-8. Parents are welcome to play too!
Live Broadcast on August 8
Mercer Island High School's 889 The Bridge joins us for a remote broadcast before Motus takes the stage on Thursday, August 8. Stop by the radio tent to see Joe Bryant and his talented students in action. Can't make the concert? Tune your radio to 88.9 FM or listen live online from anywhere around the world from 5-7 pm.

Bake Sale with MIHS Marching Band and Banda Escolar de Guayanilla on August 8
Student leaders from MIHS Marching Band will host a bake sale to support their partnership with Banda Escolar de Guayanilla (BEG), a student band from Puerto Rico. MIHS musicians performed with BEG in the Tournament of Roses Parade and have worked with BEG over the past two years to foster collaboration and friendship between the two groups. The MIHS students are fundraising to bring student leaders from BEG to Mercer Island during Homecoming week as well as to install new air conditioning units in BEG's rehearsal spaces. Support the MIHS Marching Band and this valuable connection with international performers by purchasing a sweet treat at MMIP!

More information about other pre-concert activities coming soon.
