Mercer Island's Emergency Alert System
In June 2016, King County Emergency Management officially launched an enhanced regional emergency alert system. ALERT King County allows residents to receive important information about emergency situations via telephone, text, and email.
The City of Mercer Island is joining this powerful system in order to reach its own residents more easily and consistently. Mercer Island residents will only receive alerts targeted at them, based on the address they provide -- the system will only be used by the City for major emergencies (make sure to uncheck the "General Notifications" box).
Registration is free and confidential; these records are exempt from public disclosure (RCW 38.52.577)

The system already includes most landlines, but if you sign up, you can select additional contact options (such as Email).
If you don't have a landline telephone any more, it is ESPECIALLY important that you register your cellphone number, or we will have no way of calling/texting you in emergencies! Cellphone-only residents are NOT automatically included in the alert system.
All users can update their information whenever changes are needed by simply subscribing again. The system even accepts multiple emails, phone numbers, and physical addresses all for the same person.
Although not required, setting up a Username/Password allows greater flexibility.
