Plan Review Target Times

Depending on the project scope, building plans are either "Express-routed" or "Normally-routed" for Plan Review.

What's the difference between the two?

  • Express-routed Building Permits: These are projects that result in less than 500 square feet of additional floor area, any increase in building height is below the highest point of the existing building, there is no reduction in any existing side yard, does not increase impervious surface or lot coverage by more than 100 square feet and the permit valuation less than $100,000. 
  • Normal-routed Building Permits: All other projects.

MIePlan and Paper Submittals

With the introduction of the City's electronic plan review process (MIePlan), we are able to reduce our plan review target times compared to a paper plan submittal. The target dates for each process are listed below.

Express-routed Plans:

Note: The target date is measured from the date of the intake screening approval until the initial building plan review is performed.
