Park Rules, Regulations and Code of Conduct

The following Park Rules and related codes, rules of conduct and fee schedules are established as written guidelines for the use of City of Mercer Island parks, open space areas, public squares, public drives, parkways, boulevards, beaches, playgrounds, and facilities. (MICC Chapter 9.30).
 
These rules are intended to secure and preserve the fullest enjoyment of parks and recreational facilities to a wide range of park patrons.  Failure to abide by these rules may be cause for removal.  A person convicted of a violation of any provision of the Park Rules shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, except in certain circumstances (see MICC 9.30.230).

ORDER 01-PR01 NO SKATING IN PLAZA.PDF
For reasons of public safety, welfare and convenience and preservation of park assets, all bicycling, rollerskating, rollerblading, skating or use of skooters in or around the Mercerdale Park Plaza shall be prohibited effective December 18, 2001.

ORDER 02-PR02 DESIGNATED SPECTATOR SEATING.PDF
For participant and spectator safety, all spectators shall remain in designated seating or viewing areas only. Designated viewing and seating areas include bleacher areas and behind fenced backstops. No persons, other than authorized team, event or maintenance personnel shall be in any area other than those designated for spectator viewing.

ORDER 02-PR03 NO FISHING.PDF
For swimmer and lifeguard safety, fishing from the dock, lake or beach areas of Groveland Beach Park shall be prohibited between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Sunday. This order shall be effective June 1 through September 20 each year.

No boats or watercraft are to be within 100 of Groveland or Clarke Beach Parks docks/floats except City authorized watercraft.

ORDER 06-PR01 COMMERCE ON PARK PROPERTY.PDF
To allow for the safe, healthful and aesthetic use of park property for the benefit of private commerce, any person(s) who wishes to use parks, trails, open space areas or other public park facilities for the exchange of goods, services or entertainment shall apply for a special use or event permit. Such permit shall be in the form specified by the Parks and Recreation Director and shall contain such information as deemed necessary by the Parks and Recreation Director.
