Farewell to Three Departing Councilmembers

.
Bassett, Bertlin, Wisenteiner
Dec 12, 2019 - At its Tuesday, December 10 meeting, the City Council and attendees bade farewell to three departing Councilmembers who are collectively wrapping up a lengthy amount of public service...

Mayor Debbie Bertlin (Position 7) was elected to City Council in November 2011, served as Deputy Mayor in 2016-2017, and was appointed Mayor in 2018. Debbie was recognized for her passion for service by State Representative Tana Senn, herself once a Mercer Island City Councilmember.

Councilmember Bruce Bassett (Position 5) was elected to the Council in 2007, then reelected in 2011 and 2015. He served as Mayor from 2012 through 2017 and ensured that environmental considerations entered every conversation. The City's Chief of Administration, Ali Spietz, presented his award.

Councilmember Dave Wisenteiner (Position 1) was elected to Council in 2015 and brought a lengthy background in business strategy, most recently in the region's technology sector. Deputy Mayor Salim Nice delivered the remarks on Dave's service.

The City appreciates the incredible amount energy invested by these three residents who volunteered their time to make the community a better place to live. We are grateful for your 24 years of total public service!

New, incoming Councilmembers will be sworn in at the first Council meeting in January 2020.
