Near-Drowning Incident at Groveland Beach

Aug 4, 2019 - At approximately 2:00pm today, land-based police and fire units along with the CIty's Marine Patrol and Dive team responded to a reported drowning that occurred at Groveland Park, 7040 SE 58th Street.
It was reported a 37-year-old male was swimming just offshore when witnesses observed him having difficulty staying afloat.  Bystanders immediately rendered aid and called 911.  He was pulled from the water and CPR was performed by the bystanders.
A Mercer Island Fire Department Aid Crew and Bellevue Medics arrived and quickly transported him to Overlake Hospital Medical Center.  His condition is unknown.
There was a large police/fire response due to Seafair safety operations that were already underway on Lake Washington at that time.
5:15pm UPDATE:
The rescue victim was revived while being transported to Overlake Hospital, and remains there in critical condition.
