Snow and Roads Update (Feb 9)
Feb 9, 2019 - (9:00am) City crews battled the snowfall all night and continue to operate on plow routes; conditions on the arterials are fair...
WEATHER: An additional 1-2 inches is still expected before 10am today, but may be localized. Flurries may continue until about Noon. NOAA’s Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for today until 4:00pm. Winds out of the North may gust 15-25 mph at times through at least noon, possibly reaching 30-35mph on the shorelines. Be aware that this is likely to bring down tree limbs and may push over a few trees that are heavily laden with overnight snow.
OUTLOOK: Temperatures will get very cold tonight, making snowy/slushy roads extremely slippery -- please avoid driving if at all possible. Another weather system is expected to develop late Sunday night into Monday morning with the potential for 1-3 more inches of snow, and then again on Monday night (more detail to come). There could be occasional snowfalls for the next 7 days.
ROADS CLOSED: The following roads have been closed by the MI Police Dept for safety (this may change at any time):
-- Gallagher Hill
-- Shorewood Drive
-- SE 40th Street: 7600 block to WMW
-- SE 53rd Place: from ICW to EMW
-- SE 70th Street: 7800 block to WMW
-- SE 72nd Street: 8300 block to WMW
