Westbound I-90 Floating Bridge OPEN After Wind Closure

Feb 18, 2018 - (6:30pm) The Washington State Dept of Transportation (WSDOT) has announced that it
has reopened the Westbound I-90 floating bridge after it was temporarily closed this afternoon due to strong Northerly sustained winds and high waves.

Eastbound I-90 remained open during the event.
Traffic conditions can be monitored here.

When windspeeds reach 26mph and wave heights reach 2feet, the WESTBOUND direction of the I-90 floating bridge is closed to prevent damage. The bicycle and pedestrian path is also closed. Emergency vehicles are allowed access.

For more information on this new windstorm protocol, and the related engineering considerations, visit this WSDOT blogpost.
