[UPDATE] May 16 Council Meeting Archived Video Now Available

[Update] May 27, 2016 - Thanks to generous assistance from a local resident with a personal recording of the evening's proceedings, City staff were able to find a way to rebuild the archived video. The May 16 City Council meeting footage is now available here (the video begins 5 minutes into the meeting).

May 19, 2016 - As many engaged residents may know, the City experienced problems with the video recording system during its recent City Council meeting Monday night, May 16.  While the live feed to MI-TV Channel 21 operated properly, the live video on the City’s website did not.
On May 18, ongoing investigations revealed that the system did not record the meeting, which means that individuals seeking to watch the archived video online are presently unable to do so.  Preliminary findings indicate that a contractor working as a temporary stand-in for the regular videographer mistakenly altered some of the equipment settings in a manner that was not apparent to staff until partway through the Monday Council meeting.
“We know how much Islanders value the convenience of the archived meetings, and we apologize for this unfortunate outcome,” said Interim City Manager Steve Lancaster.
While audiovisual recordings of regular Council meetings are not a State legal requirement, the City fully intends to continue this practice and after reviewing the recent situation, has put in place procedures to guard against a recurrence.  In addition, staff are exploring ways to rebuild the footage from other sources and will notify the public if that effort is successful.
