Annual Leap for Green Sustainability Fair: Saturday, April 16

Mar 25, 2016 - The date is set for the return of Mercer Island's Leap for Green community sustainability fair: Saturday, April 16, at the Community Center, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Come join in the fun!

The event began in 2008 to celebrate Earth Day (April 22) by promoting environmental practices and activities for kids and adults, and to raise general awareness of local sustainability resources.

Children's activities include nature-based programs, arts and crafts, educational exhibits, live science demonstrations, petting zoo, story hour, and a chance to meet Leap, our frog mascot.

The fair also offers adults and parents various conservation and sustainability materials, birding tours, green gardening tips, electric vehicle and transit information, and more.
Every year a variety of food vendors rounds out the offerings, along with a live band, and give-away items. The event is held rain or shine, with many activities indoors, and most outdoor booths under tents.
