Call To Order:
Mayor Jim Pearman called the meeting to order at 6:08 pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island, Washington.
Councilmembers Bruce Bassett, Mike Cero, Mike Grady, Dan Grausz, Steve Litzow, Deputy Mayor El Jahncke and Mayor Jim Pearman were present.
AB 4581 Public Hearing: 2011-2012 Preliminary Budget Review
Mayor Pearman opened the public hearing at 6:08 pm. There being no comments the Mayor closed the public hearing.
Finance Director Chip Corder reviewed the Criminal Justice Fund and General Fund as part of the 2011-2012 Preliminary Budget. He explained the major revenues and a summary budget analysis of the General Fund. He provided a recap and balance for the General Fund as well as a review of the following department’s operating budgets: Police, City Attorney’s Office, City Council, City Manager’s Office, Finance, Human Resources, Municipal Court, Non-Departmental, Maintenance, and Fire. Within each department, Director Corder and staff highlighted the budget analysis, any service reduction proposals, service enhancement requests and new or enhanced revenues.
The remainder of the Budget Hearing schedule is as follows:
· November 15: Budget Review of General Fund (Parks & Recreation and Development Services operating budgets), follow-up items, Adoption of 2011 Property Tax Levy, Adoption of 2011 Utility Rates and Adoption of 2011 Development Fees
· December 6: Adoption of 2011-2012 Final Budget
